About Lockdown Learning

Hello Everyone!

Lockdown Learning has play based activities for children aged between 2 and 4 years old. I have divided the information into eight sections. If you do not have access to a garden, please don’t let that put you off from reading the ‘In the Garden’ section, as the activities can be adapted to inside. The phonics activities are for children aged 3 and up but if your child is showing interest in letters and sounds, then please go ahead and try some of the activities. The Mathematics is for children aged 2 and a half and upwards. Some of the play based learning has been divided into age ranges to make it easier for you. All of the ideas are using resources that you will already have at home. The timetable is there as a rough guide and we adapt our day according to the weather, family or friends Facetime calls, energy levels and time. Although we have a timetable, it is flexible and if we don’t get an activity done then it doesn’t matter.

And a little about me

My name is Lizzy and I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and have spent a lot of time teaching Early Years (ages 3-5). I am a Mum to a 2 and a half year old and a 5 month old which certainly keeps me busy!

This lockdown has meant everyone has had to adjust to a new way of life – whether it be working from home, working less hours, losing your job or sharing work and childcare within your home. It is a juggling act that we have all had to adapt to quickly. With the nurseries and childcare provision closed it has meant that, as parents we have had to step up which, quite frankly, is daunting. Where do you start? What do you do all day with a young child in your home? My aim is that my website will be able to provide you with plenty of ideas for your child or children to learn through play.

Lockdown Learning is new and I will be adding to it every Sunday evening. If you have any questions please email me on: lockdownlearning1@gmail.com
